SAVED BY YOUTUBE

Activism on Internet is the theme of our March edition. We’ll be showing how people use the power of video and the Internet to make a statement, and even more importantly: set change in motion. This edition is made in close cooperation with Movies That Matter Festival (an initiative of Amnesty International). Guest curator is Taco Ruighaver, director and head of programming of this festival.

TAKING WEB FILMS TO THE BIG SCREEN

Upload Cinema takes the best of the web to the big screen. Every first Monday of the month we present a fresh program of inspiring and entertaining Internet shorts. Each month there’s a new theme. The audience can submit films; an editorial team selects the best and compiles a ninety minutes program, which is screened at film theatres and special venues.

JANUARY THEME

BEST VIRALS OF 2009

Viral Video’s was the subject of the previous Upload Cinema. In the non-contagious environment of De Uitkijk, the audience saw branded virals like Evian Roller Babies, The Closet and the T-Mobile Dance. There were also virals uploaded by consumers which became incredible hits, like David After Dentist and Surprised Kitten. Of course the debut of British talent Susan Boyle was also part of the show, just as the acclaimed Walk-In Fridge.
